Course Planning
Poitiers,
September 23-27, 2002
Contact: tgl@inmentors.com
This
course is intended to inform and guide the student on principles of website
design and graphics, functionality, layout and presentation, in order to have
maximum impact on the particular target market. We will investigate the history, purpose and development of
commercial websites, as well as the various types that exist in the world
today- B2C, B2B, marketing, non-profit, etc.
In addition, we will have a number of case studies and online examples
of current successful and non-successful websites.
There
will be a unique approach in this course, as it is an intensive, one-week (24
hour) session, which will include a workshop for actually building and
publishing websites by the students.
This workshop is intended to immerse the student in the practical matters
of designing, creating and publishing an actual website. Therefore a practical approach rather than
theoretical approach will be taken during this course.
Hands-On
Workshop (Website Atelier)
Workshop Tutor: Mme Rubi Cortes, Marketing Director- Kreode Technologies
The
workshop will explore various techniques for creating and publishing websites,
and will cover both theory as well as practical/technique. There will be a workshop during this class
for creating, designing and publishing our own websites. The workshop will be conducted by both the
professor as well as a ‘workshop tutor’, the director of marketing for a
high-tech startup based in Paris. Mme
Cortes has designed and built websites for over five years, and is an expert on
user interface design as well as the usage of website publishing methodologies
and tools (Microsoft FrontPage). She
will share her experiences and expertise, in particular the real-world case
example of her own company, Kreode Technologies (www.kreode.com). Parts of this workshop will be in French.
